About the Author

John E. McMurry received his B.A. from Harvard University and his Ph.D. at Columbia University. He is a Fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, and an Alfred P. Do not purchase this from APEX media. I was lead to believe that I could re-rent the book if I needed it for more time and then the buttons did not work, when I clicked to re-rent them. Then, I called Amazon to inquire and THEY could not re-rent it using the button either. Then my accounts were charged, using the accounts listed on my Amazon account page without my giving them permission to charge those accounts. They just went down the line and tried everything that was on my account. They double charged me on two of my accounts the purchase price, without allowing me to re-rent the text and extend the rental.

Many of the answers in the solutions manual do NOT match up to the questions in the textbook, even though the textbook I have is the corresponding edition. Complete waste of money. How am I supposed to see if I am answering the questions correctly (which is the ONLY reason to purchase the manual in the first place). It is already terrible that students are forced to pay double for an extra textbook just to see the solutions to practice problems, but the answers to entire chapters are missing or scrambled. Useless textbook.

I'm livid right now - taking one of those "organic chemistry in a month during the summer " courses at the local state college. Currently in chapter 13. - NMR. Before this chapter, here and there would be a question from the text that doesn't match up with the answer in the solutions manual. Picture a question about gas phase from gen chem, but then the answer will be about some metabolic pathway from intro bio.Now NMR is the toughest for me to grasp so I've done all of the in-reading questions and read all the sections. Nearly EVERY SINGLE answer addresses a different question.Example:13-9Q: Predict splitting patterns expected for each proton in the following molecules A-E (THAT's SIX PARTS OF THE QUESTION).13-9A ONLY HAS ONE PART AND DOES NOT EVEN TALK ABOUT ONE OF THE MOLECULES IN THE PREVIOUSLY MENTIONED PARTS A-E.WHAT A SCAM. AUTHOR and PUBLISHER - DID YOU RUN OUT OF MONEY TO PAY THE PROOF READERS?Side note, the textbook itself actually has good explanations.

I've already noticed that this is just a copy of the previous edition... problems have not been changed, in large part, to match the new edition (there are so few changes, anyway). Just get the old edition of both books, the text and student solutions / study guide.

As a chemistry major and eventually going to get my master's degree in organic chemistry and my PhD in either forensic science or forensic chemistry, subjects such as biology and chemistry along with biochemistry, are very important to my career now as well as in the future. After having completed three semesters of calculus, along with two semesters of both general chemistry and organic chemistry, having access to both the textbook and study guide with solutions to the problems worked out, really does help. I will say the only thing that I would like to point out, several of the solutions in several sections did not match up to the questions as this was not the case for every single question but for certain ones this was the case. Fortunately I've got a strong background in both math and chemistry and I am confident most of the time in problem solving especially but this would not be so helpful to those who are not as strong in chemistry and needing a more so clear explanation of how to solve these types of problems in organic chemistry and I find this subject beautiful and intriguing besides calculus and biochemistry. Thanks so much for the opportunity to be able to have access to not just the textbook but the wonderful solutions manual also. I definitely recommend this to anyone who still needs to take organic chemistry especially, take advantage of and utilize these resources available to us and I recommend buying and keeping all of your chemistry and biochemistry textbooks for those who are chemistry majors like myself. Whatever your major is, always keep your textbooks and other resources relevant to those subjects as it is very important for our future too!

Receive the text book instead of the study guide manual

I bought this because I would like to see if I get the correct answer so I know whether or not I am doing the problem correctly. It works although it is. Ot exactly the same as the hybrid book problems

Life saver for my Organic Chemistry class. Explains every question in detail and was definitely worth the purchase. Does not have the questions, so make sure to pair it with the actual book.
